MEET THE ARTIST
My passion for glass blowing began in the fall of 2005 at the Minnesota Center for Glass Arts, in Minneapolis. My oldest daughter and I attended a weekend workshop and my addiction to the medium began. Prior to this class, my art skills were limited to drawing a triangle and I never considered (or even contemplated) being an artist. This quickly changed as I continued to explore, discover and hone my creative expression with continued glass blowing classes and studio time. Nearly three years later (2008), I took the leap and quit my ‘paying’ job (running a large labor union in Minneapolis, Mn) to nourish my new found passion of Glass Blowing. This life shift has nourished me in ways I didn’t know were possible.

I consider myself a ‘utilitarian’ glass blower who, through trial and error, has learned to create glass art. My education and exploration continues with yearly classes at The Corning Museum of Glass, and Pittsburgh Glass to help inspire, refine and expand my designs and forms.

In 2012, I took my first coldworking workshop at Corning Museum of Glass and immediately felt at home. I’ve found this technique complements the excitement of blowing the glass, with the meditative aspect of slowly changing the exterior of the piece.
In 2014, I purchased an engraving lathe and spend the majority of my time now in my cold shop, listening to music and the meditative sound of the lathe as I calmly work the glass canvas into its final expression.

Although much of the time spent on each art piece is solo, I love collaborating with my clients to help them select the colors, shape and intention in their custom pieces. Contact me today for your next piece of art to add to your collection and daily life.
